Training Women’s Fleet Excels Colours at the Inter Command Sailing Championship- 2022

            The Inter-Command Sailing Championship 2022 was held at the Naval and Maritime Academy over a week this month. The finals of the event were held on 07th October 2022, which tests the sailing skills and willpower of naval personnel. The sailing championship was divided into two fleets, namely the “Men’s Fleet” and the “Women’s Fleet”, with each fleet competing through eighteen races and six races, respectively, in Enterprise class sailboats. Teams from the nine commands of the Sri Lanka Navy participated in the event, in which they had to compete in sailing over a designated circuit in the Triangle-Sausage Course on Enterprise class sail boats. The event was conducted at the Commander Shanthi Bahar Memorial Sailing Club at NMA.

           The women’s fleet of the training command emerged victors in the championship, while the men’s fleet secured the second runner-up spot. The Commander of Eastern Naval Area, RAdm. KJ Kularathne, RSP*, USP, psc, graced the price awarding ceremony as the chief guest. The Commandant of the Naval and Maritime Academy, Senior Naval Officers, and a large number of sailors were also present on the occasion.
