MMTS successfully completes STCW Basic Safety and Maritime English (support level) course 05/ 2022 and 06/ 2022

Certificate awarding ceremony of STCW Basic Safety Course and Maritime English (Support Level) course 05 and 06/2022 were held at the Mini Auditorium, Naval and Maritime Academy on 05th October 2022 to mark the termination of the course. The ceremony was honoured by the Commandant, Naval & Maritime Academy, as the chief guest.

STCW Basic Safety and Maritime English (Support Level) course 05 and 06/2022 were commenced with 19 officers and 20 Sailor under trainees on 05th September 2022 and all trainees were awarded the certificates on successful completion of the course.

The objective of this course is to provide theoretical and practical knowledge as well as the training required to achieve the Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC). The course enhances the competencies of the participants to carry out the duties of merchant ships in a very successful and effective manner. The course is conducted in accordance with the directives of the Director General of Merchant Shipping and the International Maritime Organization’s Constitution.

All instructors of the Merchant Marine Training School and lecturers under the inventive supervision of the Commandant, Naval & Maritime Academy, sought to transform the quality training for the course participants with the vision of producing suitable, skilled seafarers for the field of merchant shipping.

This course will steer the future aspirations of officers and sailors who wish to retire from the Sri Lanka Navy near future after serving for more than 12 years or 20 years respectively and turning their careers into a new dimension.
