OPENING CEREMONY OF RP II QUALIFYING COURSEĀ  02/2025

A group of 30 RADAR Plotter sailors joined the Navigation School of the Naval and Maritime Academy on 05thApril 2025 to participate in the RP II Qualifying Course 02/2025, which will last for a duration of seventeen (17) weeks.

The aim of the RP II Qualifying Course is to impart professional knowledge to RADAR Plotter sailors, enabling them to discharge their duties as RADAR Operators and perform the responsibilities of Navigator’s Yeomen, Tactical Communicators, and Plotters onboard ships and in operations rooms. The course also covers the demand, upkeep, and maintenance of navigation publications and equipment.

This training will equip them to perform their duties effectively and efficiently. The Officer-in-Charge of the Navigation School, Commander (ND) HMWM Thilakarathna addressed the trainees during the Opening Ceremony and emphasized the importance of this course in discharging their duties as professional. Navigator’s Yeomen and RADAR Plotters. The Chief Instructor, instructors, and divisional team were also present at the event.
