Naval and Maritime Academy

THE STCW BASIC SAFETY AND MARITIME ENGLISH SUPPORT LEVEL COURSE NO. 02/2025 (S) AND COURSE NO. 03/2025 (S) COMMENCED AT NMA.

The Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) Basic Safety and Maritime English Support Level Course No. 02/2025(S) and Course No. 03/2025(S) commenced at the Merchant Marine Training School, Naval and Maritime Academy, on 03 Mar 25. The two (02) courses consist of forty (40) sailors.

The course aims to equip participants with the skills necessary to obtain the Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) from the Merchant Shipping Secretariat (MSS). This initiative is pivotal for naval personnel seeking second career opportunities after retiring from the Sri Lanka Navy.

Rear Admiral Rohan Joseph, the Commandant of the Naval and Maritime Academy, graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest and officially inaugurated the courses.
