BEACH CLEANING (SANDY BAY TO CORAL COVE BEACH) CONDUCTED BY ENGINEERING SCHOOL

Continuing the Naval & Maritime Academy’s (NMA) commitment to environmental conservation, the Engineering School conducted a beach cleaning programme, from Sandy Bay to Coral Cove Beach, reinforcing the institution’s ongoing dedication to maintaining a cleaner and healthier coastline under the Clean Sri Lanka initiative on 27 Feb 2025.

This initiative brought together officers, sailors, and trainees of the Engineering School, who actively participated in removing plastic waste, debris, and other pollutants that threaten the coastal ecosystem. The cleaning operation covered a significant stretch of the shoreline, ensuring proper segregation and disposal of waste to minimize environmental impact.

Beyond being a mere cleanup effort, this initiative served as an awareness campaign, highlighting the importance of responsible waste management and environmental conservation. By taking proactive steps to protect the marine environment, NMA continues to set an example in sustainable practises within the Sri Lanka Navy.
