IRON BLOOM’ – ENGLISH DAY CELEBRATION, 67TH INTAKE

The English Day celebration of the 67th Cadet Intake of Naval and Maritime Academy, was held in the evening on 07th February 2025, at Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditoriam, NMA. The event aimed to create an engaging and interactive environment that encouraged Officer Under Trainees (OUTs) to enhance their language skills while showcasing their creativity. A broad spectrum of artistic presentations, including skits, poetry readings, musical acts, and dance routines, allowed the trainees to express themselves in English, giving them a platform to practice speaking, listening, and comprehension skills in a fun and supportive setting.

As the auditorium welcomed a distinguished assembly of officers, Student Officer Under Trainees, fellow Officer Under Trainees, and instructors, the air was filled with a vibrant energy, brimming with anticipation and enthusiasm for the upcoming proceedings. Each act was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the  OUTs, who had spent weeks preparing for this celebration. The OUTs not only entertained the audience but also inspired each other to take risks and challenge themselves. Laughter, applause, and cheers echoed throughout the venue, creating an encouraging atmosphere that reinforced the value of teamwork and collaboration in the language learning process.

The highlight of the night was an inspiring address by, Rear Admiral Rohan Joseph, the Commandant of the Naval and Maritime Academy, who emphasized the significance of the showcasing of talents, inviting all the under trainees to embrace this platform and take the stage to shine, to do wonders, and reflect the creativity. He praised the trainees for their efforts and encouraged them to continue honing their English language skills as well. As the event concluded, a sense of achievement and camaraderie lingered in the air, leaving everyone feeling motivated and excited about their ongoing language journey. Ultimately, the celebration served as a vibrant reminder that learning English can be a joyous and enriching experience when approached with creativity and enthusiasm.
