OPENING CEREMONY OF RP II QUALIFYING COURSE 01/2025

A group of 59 RADAR Plotter sailors joined the Navigation School of the Naval and Maritime   Academy on January 25, 2025, to follow the RP II Qualifying Course 01/2025 for a duration of   seventeen(17) weeks.

The aim of the RP II Qualifying Course is to impart professional knowledge to RADAR Plotter sailors to enable them to discharge their duties as RADAR Operators, perform the duties of Navigator’s Yeomen, and fulfill the responsibilities of Tactical Communicators and Plotters onboard ships and in Operations rooms. The course also covers the demand, upkeep, and maintenance of navigation publications and equipment.

This training will equip them to perform their duties effectively and efficiently. The Officer-in-Charge of the Navigation School Commander (ND) HMWM Thilakarathna, RSP, USP, psc, MSc (D&SS) addressed the trainees during the Opening Ceremony and emphasized the importance of this course in discharging duties as efficient Navigator’s Yeomen and RADAR Plotters during future attachments. The Chief Instructor, instructors, and divisional team were also present at the event. The course is scheduled to complete on   May 25, 2025.
