CEREMONIALLY COMMENCED THE STCW BASIC SAFETY AND MARITIME ENGLISH SUPPORT LEVEL COURSE NO. 08 – 2024 (S) AT NMA

The STCW Basic Safety Course No. 08 – 2024(S) ceremonially commenced at the Merchant Marine Training School of NMA on 18 Nov 24. The course consists of twenty (20) sailors and it spans for five weeks. The course aims to equip participants with skills which are necessary to obtain the Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) from the Director General of Merchant Shipping. This initiative is pivotal for naval personnel seeking second career opportunities after dedicated service in the Sri Lanka Navy.

The Officer In-charge of Merchant Marine Training School, LCdr (N) RGAP Rajapaksha graced the event as chief guest and officially inaugurated the course.
