In late 2024, 19 Volunteer Naval Force (VNF) sailors undertook a transformative journey through the Firefighting Course 02/2024, spanning from 09th September 2024 to 09th October 2024. The course aimed to equip participants with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for firefighting duties within the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) Fire Services and Fire Units. Through a blend of classroom sessions, hands-on training exercises, and simulated firefighting scenarios, sailors delved into topics such as fire behavior, equipment usage, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures.
As the course concluded, the 19 sailors emerged as proficient and confident firefighters, ready to serve with professionalism and courage. Their dedication and perseverance were evident throughout the training programme as they honed their skills in hose handling, fire suppression tactics, and search and rescue operations. Further they were equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise. Also these sailors are now poised to safeguard lives and assets within the SLN Fire Services and Fire Units, contributing to the overall enhancement of firefighting capabilities of the Sri Lanka Navy.
