On 11th October 2024, a charming passing-out parade was successfully conducted at the main parade ground of the Naval and Maritime Academy, giving prominence to rich naval customs and traditions. Thirteen (13) medical Officers of 35th Intake KDU who followed the Basic Orientation Course marched off with pride and honour on completing their training. The Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy Commodore R Joseph, RSP, USP, NWC, psc, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and took the salute. The parade was held in the presence of family members of the officers being passed out, faculty members, instructors, officers and sailor Under Trainees of NMA.
At the awarding ceremony for outstanding achievement, ‘Acting Sub Lieutenant DB Jayathilake’ from the Basic Orientation Course (Medical) 02/2024 secured the Best Officer Award.
The Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy congratulated the newly passed-out officers and emphasized the importance of their training in instilling the Navy’s values and professionalism. He commended their dedication, hard work and perseverance throughout their training and stressed the importance of their roles. The Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy encourages newly passed-out officers to uphold the highest standards of discipline and integrity as they embark on their career. Further, the Commandant acknowledged the invaluable support and encouragement provided by parents and family members. Â
The chief guest admired the parade, which was concluded with a dazzling band display by the NMA band and praised the efforts of NMA faculty in conducting the event successfully. Â
