LOGISTICS CONFERENCE 2024 AND CERTIFICATE AWARDING CEREMONY OF LONG LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT COURSE NO 8 CONCLUDE ON A HIGH NOTE IN TRINCOMALEE

The 6th edition of the Logistics Conference – 2024, organized by the Long Logistics Management Course No. 8, was held glamorously at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium on 8th June 2024. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, graced the occasion as the chief guest at the invitation of the Commandant Naval & Maritime Academy, Commodore Rohan Joseph.

Professor Niles Perera, a Professor in Supply Chain Management at the University of Moratuwa was the Keynote Speaker at the Conference.  Bringing together professional academic experts from renowned universities in Sri Lanka to discuss the theme of ‘Navigating Sustainably: The Economic Resilience through Contemporary Logistics Management’. The event featured a keynote speech, six research papers, and panel discussions. Accordingly, the sequence of sessions was conducted under three sub-themes Transformative Logistics for Sri Lanka’s Economic Renaissance, Public-Private Synergy: Driving Economic Prosperity through Logistics and Green Horizons, and Steering Sustainable Logistics for Economic Resilience. The logistics conference was vivacious with professionals from universities and other training institutes, Director General Logistics, Director General Training, senior rank representatives from Pakistan and Bangladesh Navy, retired Director Generals of Logistics, Tri-Service, and Police officers.

The conference was followed by an exclusive Diners’ Club event at the Eastern Command Ward Room, graced by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, as the chief guest. The highlight of the evening was a captivating address by Mr Suranga Herath, CEO of English Tea Shop Organic. Mr. Herath shared his invaluable experiences and insights from the corporate management field, providing attendees with a unique perspective on sustainable business practices and leadership in the contemporary corporate landscape. It was a fitting conclusion to a day filled with thought-provoking discussions and fruitful exchanges, leaving participants inspired and motivated to continue their journey towards sustainable logistics management and economic resilience.

Subsequently, the certificate awarding ceremony for the Long Logistics Management Course No. 8 took place on 9 June 2024. Student officers from the Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Army, and Sri Lanka Air Force were honored with certificates by Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Commander of the Navy. Lieutenant Commander (S) HIK Peiris stood out among the awardees, receiving three prizes for achieving the highest aggregate in naval subjects, the highest aggregate in academic subjects, and securing the first position in order of merit. Lieutenant Commander (S) ADS Sapukotuna was recognized as the Most Inspired Officer of the Course. Additionally, Lieutenant Commander (S) KDPM Kathriarachchi from Long Logistics Management Course No. 7 was also awarded a prize for securing the first position in order of merit.
