PRACTICAL LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT EXERCISE OF 36TH , 37TH KDU (TECHNICAL) & 38TH , 39TH KDU INTAKES

The Practical Leadership Development Exercise held on 30th & 31stMarch 2024, at Chapel Beach was a transformative experience for the Officer Under Trainees (OUTs) from the 36th & 37th KDU (Technical), and 38th & 39th  KDU intakes. Aimed at honing their leadership skills, fostering teamwork, enhancing survival instincts, and refining their situational adaptability, this training program was meticulously designed to mold these OUTs into future leaders.

The collaborative effort between the Officer Training Wing and the Combat Training Unit ensured a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum for the 37 participating OUTs. Through a series of practical exercises conducted during the day, they were challenged to navigate various scenarios that tested their decision-making abilities and collaborative spirit.

As dusk fell, the OUTs showcased their creativity and camaraderie through a captivating Variety Show centered on the theme of ‘Hunters,’ providing a glimpse into the challenges and triumphs of jungle life. This was followed by a sumptuous dinner prepared with skill and dedication by the OUTs themselves, a testament to their teamwork and resourcefulness.

The presence of Captain Akila Mendis, Officer In Charge of the Logistic & Management School at Naval & Maritime Academy, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. His inspiring words of wisdom and encouragement instilled a sense of pride and motivation in the OUTs, reaffirming their commitment to excellence in their future roles as leaders in the navy.Witnessed by other esteemed officers, this event not only served as a platform for the OUTs to showcase their talents but also provided invaluable lessons and experiences that will shape their journey towards leadership in the navy.
