INSIGNIA AWARDING CEREMONY OF CD III COURSE 02/2023

Insignia awarding ceremony of CD III Course 02/2023 (Course No. 64) was held at the Diving School premises, Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee on 07th March 2024 to mark the successful culmination. The ceremony was graced by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera as the chief guest.

The course commenced on 28th August 2023 with twenty eight (28) Sailor Under Trainees (SUTs). Out of them only seventeen (17) SUTs completed the training module successfully and qualified as clearance divers to perform their specified duties most effectively and efficiently leading to excellence in the Naval service. The six (06) months training module terminated on 07th March 2024 with the dedicated training. Moreover, they have improved the pertinent and immense knowledge of their particular fields and gained the required exposure to work confidently in the future Navy in every aspect.

SUTs who successfully completed their training earned the rare privilege of wearing the diving insignia. The Commander of the Navy pinned prestigious diving insignia to the course participants and OD MPT Sandeepa, XD 122238 was adjudged as the Best Diver of the course.

Further, the distinguished invitees and parents of the trainees witnessed a colorful live underwater display which was conducted by the trainees.

Addressing the gathering, the Commander of the Navy congratulated all trainees on their achievement and he urged them to undertake their duty with the highest standard of professionalism acquired through the training.

Moreover, the Commander of the Navy also extended his sincere thanks to the parents for giving their consent to their beloved children to serve the motherland with noble resolve.

Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva, Deputy Area Commander and the Commandant Naval & Maritime Academy Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage, Senior Officers, Officers of NMA and Parents of trainees were also present on the occasion.
