“DIONYSUS – 2024” VARIETY SHOW

“DIONYSUS – 2024” the Variety Show which orchestrated extraordinary talents of the Officer Under Trainees (OUTs) of Naval and Maritime Academy was held at Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium (AWKA) in the evening on 28th February 2024 and Captain GHGS Udayanga, the Training Captain of Naval and Maritime Academy graced this fabulous event as the Chief Guest.

A total of 148 participants from different intakes including the Basic Orientation Course, 36th, 37th, 38th and 39th KDU intakes, 65th and 66th Cadet Entry Intakes, Direct Entry 2023 and Service Entry 2023 took the stage. They displayed a variety of talents such as dancing, stage dramas hosting and musical performances including singing and playing instruments. This event played a crucial role as a platform for these individuals to express and develop their innate potential.

“DIONYSUS – 2024” kicked off with a captivating Sri Lankan up-country dance setting an energetic tone. The band “WAVES” comprised entirely of OUTs, played several songs. A talented Officer Cadet from the 65th intake decorated the stage and ‘OKADA WEGE’, a humour-filled show by 39th Intake KDU added entertainment. The evening featured a variety of performances from other intakes including couple dances, duet songs, a female solo and engaging dramas by the OUTs. Freestyle dance and a Sinhala-English Mash-up concluded the show leaving the audience delighted.

The culmination of “DIONYSUS – 2024” marked a momentous occasion as the Training Captain of Naval and Maritime Academy shared his heartfelt reflections on the remarkable event. Captain GHGS Udayanga extended his sincere congratulations to all the participants acknowledging their outstanding performances and urging them to harness and nurture these talents for the advancement of the future Sri Lanka Navy. His words resonated with encouragement and fostered a sense of enthusiasm among the participants to determine for continuous improving of their skills. Further, he expressed his gratitude towards the dedicated efforts of the Officer Training Officer and OTW Directing Staff, recognizing their instrumental role in orchestrating such a platform.
