In a concerted effort to bolster naval readiness and fortify the capabilities of its personnel, the Naval & Maritime Academy Trincomalee has started two pivotal training programs: the NBCD Advance Course for Engineering Branch Sailors and the Advanced NBCD Officer Course on 08th January 2024.
NBCD Advance Course for Engineering Branch Sailor
Commencing on 08th January 2024, and to be concluded on 17th May 2024, the NBCD Advance Course targeted 19 Engineering Branch Sailors (ME / SW). Conducted by the esteemed NBCD School at the Naval & Maritime Academy, this course aimed to equip participants with comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge in Firefighting, Damage Control, and NBCD defense.
The core objective of this specialized program is to cultivate skilled NBCD instructors within the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN). Participants undergo rigorous training, merging theoretical teachings with practical exercises, preparing them to proficiently instruct and respond to critical situations as NBCD instructors within the SLN.
Advanced NBCD Officer Course
Simultaneously, from 8th January to 15th March 2024, the Advanced NBCD Officer Course commenced with 15 officers in attendance. Facilitated by the NBCD School at the Naval & Maritime Academy, this course provided officers with extensive knowledge in NBCD, Firefighting, Damage Control, and CBRN aspects.
The primary goal is to ensure officers are equipped with the necessary theoretical understanding and practical skills to execute their duties confidently and professionally aboard ships. The course integrated simulations and hands-on experiences, preparing officers to adeptly handle diverse scenarios encountered at sea.
Both training programs signify a proactive approach by the Naval & Maritime Academy in fostering expertise and preparedness within the Sri Lanka Navy. These initiatives further reinforce the SLN’s readiness to navigate challenges effectively, ensuring the safety and operational efficiency of naval forces
