PASSING OUT PARADE OF DIRECT ENTRY (VNF) 01/2022 INTAKE AT NAVAL & MARITIME ACADEMY

On completion of successful training at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), twenty nine (29) officers belonging to the Direct Entry (Volunteer Naval Force) 01/2022 intake consisted of Executive, Electrical & Electronics, Legal and Counseling branches, were passed out on 29th December 2023 at the Main Parade Ground of NMA.

Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva, the Commander Eastern Naval Area graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and took the salute. The passing out parade was held glamorously with the participation of Senior Officers from the Naval Headquarters and Eastern Naval Command, parents and family members of officers passed out.

Those who excelled during the training were presented with special awards by the Chief Guest. Accordingly, Acting Sub Lieutenant JALD Kumari was awarded the ‘Best Direct Entry Officer’ of the intake while, Acting Sub Lieutenant AP Ranathunga won the award for the ‘Best Marksman’ and the award for the ‘Best Sports performance’ was secured by Acting Sub Lieutenant ASS Wijesiri.

Addressing the newly passed out officers and the gathering, the Chief Guest congratulated them for completing both academic and essential practical training meeting the expected standards of the Sri Lanka Navy. Further, he urged the newly passed out offices to maintain the ethos and values in the navy as a commissioned officer keeping integrity, honestly, discipline and dignity at all times. On completion of the parade, a band display and a cultural show were performed by the SLN Band and the Cultural troupe to entertain the gathering.
