BOOK PRIZE AWARDING CEREMONY AND GUEST DINNER OF DIRECT ENTRY (VNF) 01/2022 INTAKE AT NAVAL & MARITIME ACADEMY

The Passing Out Parade of twenty nine (29) officers belonging to the Direct Entry (Volunteer Naval Force) 01/2022 intake was held successfully at the Main Parade Ground of the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) on 29th December 2023.

On completion of the parade, the Book Prize awarding ceremony was held at the Sailing Pool of NMA with the participation of Senior Officers from the Naval Headquarters and Eastern Naval Command, parents, and family member of officers passed out. Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva, the Commander Eastern Naval Area graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Those who excelled during the training were presented with special Book Prizes by the Chief Guest. Accordingly, Acting Sub Lieutenant JALD Kumari was presented the Book Prize for the ‘Best Direct Entry Officer’ of the intake while, Acting Sub Lieutenant AP Ranathunga and Acting Sub Lieutenant ASS Wijesiri received Book Prizes awarded for the ‘Best Marksman’ and Best Sports performance’ respectively.

In the evening of the same day, a Guest Dinner was held to celebrate their passing out, at the Senior Gunroom Dinning Hall with the attendance of the Commandant and Faculty Members of NMA and newly passed out officers. Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva, the Commander Eastern Naval Area graced the event as the Chief Guest.
