THE 33RD JUNIOR NAVAL STAFF COURSE HAS SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED WITH A GRADUATION CEREMONY

On 18th November 2023, the prestigious Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee set the stage for a distinguished ceremony, marking the culmination of the 33rd Junior Naval Staff Course graduation with elegance and professionalism. The event was marked by awarding certificates to the course participants, recognising their hard work and dedication to completing successful training. The Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest at the invitation of the Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy, Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage.

Addressing the august gathering, the Chief Guest congratulated the Student Officers for achieving their career milestones and highlighted the importance of continuation of learning. Further, he expressed a compelling discourse on the paramount significance of the Junior Staff Course, underscoring its pivotal role in shaping proficient leaders capable of navigating the complexities inherent in strategic decision-making. Guest invitees from the Eastern Naval Command, Sri Lanka Air Force, Faculty members of the NMA, Directing Staff of the JNSC, Officer Under Trainees, and the families of the Student Officers added allure to the event.

The course commenced on 11th July 2023 with seventeen Student Officers including one officer from Sri Lanka Army and one officer from Sri Lanka Air Force. During the course, the Student Officers were exposed to a high academic and professional curriculum in which 33rd JNSC excelled their academic prowess explicitly. The event marked reaps of the harvest of seeds that they sowed through 19 weeks by the Student Officers.

Throughout the course, several students stood out for their exceptional achievements, earning well-deserved accolades. LCdr (ASW) NN Wickramasooriya was honoured with prestigious awards of the First Overall Merit, Highest Aggregate in Academic Subjects and Best Commandant’s Service Paper while LCdr (CDO) DJKS Siriwardana secured the award for   Best Public Speaker. These recognitions not only underscore the dedication and excellence of the recipients but also reflect the commitment to excellence fostered within the 33rd Junior Naval Staff Course.
