Officer Cadets of 65th Intake Unveil “EVONIGHT 23″

The Officer Cadets of the 65th intake officially began their journey with the Sri Lanka Navy on 28th June 2023. To enhance their communication skills and prepare them for various challenges that are ahead, they embarked on an Intensive English module on 04th July 2023. The importance of learning the English language cannot be overstated in today’s globalized world. English is not only one of the most widely spoken languages, but it opens a world of opportunities for individuals, allowing them to access a vast repository of knowledge, and connect with people. Proficiency in English not only equips individuals with an essential means of effective communication, but it also represents the Navy’s commitment to excellence.

Upon the successful completion of their Intensive English module, the Officer Cadets of the 65th Intake organized a remarkable event under the theme of ‘Future’ to showcase their talents and the elegance of the English language. The English Day programme, aptly named “EVONIGHT 23” was held with great enthusiasm at AWKA from 1800hrs onwards on 05th  November 2023. Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage , the Commandant of the Naval and Maritime Academy, graced this glamorous evening as the Chief Guest.

This event not only showcased their progress in mastering the English language but also provided a platform for Cadets to demonstrate their linguistic skills through various performances, including speeches, discussions, poetry readings, drama, songs, and cultural presentations. “EVONIGHT 23” was a testament to their dedication and hard work, highlighting the importance of linguistic proficiency and cross-cultural understanding in their future roles as officers in the Sri Lanka Navy.

As the Chief Guest, the Commandant of the Naval and Maritime Academy highlighted the importance of learning the English language and commended the outstanding performances of the Officer Cadets. Further, he appreciated the dedication and hard work of all officers and instructors of the Officer Training Wing and the Language School who organized this enthusiastic event successfully.
