COMMANDING OFFICER OF JAPAN MARITIME SELF-DEFENSE FORCE (JMSDF) DESTROYER AKEBONO CALLED ON COMMANDANT NAVAL AND MARITIME ACADEMY

The Commanding Officer of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) destroyer AKEBONO (DD 108) Commander Togawa Hisato called on Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy, Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage. During the call on, they discussed training structures in both countries as well as details on the type of officer training and facilities available. The cordial discussion drew to a close with an exchange of mementoes, signifying the importance of this occasion.

On the sidelines, a group of ship’s crew visited NMA for a study tour where a briefing was given about the training facilities that include simulators and model rooms. On completion of the study tour, the JMSDF personnel visited the naval museum as a part of their programme to experience the maritime legacy of the SLN and also with a view to promoting cooperation and goodwill between the two countries.
