Trinco Dialogue Maritime Symposium 2023 Culminates on a High Note

The ninth edition of Maritime Symposium Trinco Dialogue 2023 was successfully conducted at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium from 0815 to 1415 hours on 27th October 2023. The event was organized by the Junior Naval Staff College,  Naval and Maritime Academy under the able guidance of the Commandant, Commodore Buddika Liyanagamage, RWP, RSP, USP, psc and under theme of “Importance of Maritime Security in Realizing Sri Lanka’s Maritime Strategy”.

The event was graced by the Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Suresh de Silva, USP, ndc, psc as the Chief Guest and delivered  Keynote. There he brought the significance of the Indian Ocean sustained for long time as an civilization whilst contemporary constructs like Indo-Pacific and BRI meant to be just for particular purpose of global powers.   Rear Admiral Meril Sudarshana (Retd), RSP, USP, ndu, psc, has delivered a presentation on ‘Formulation of a Maritime Strategy for Sri Lanka’ as the Guest speaker. Remaining five  papers  were delivered by Captain Nilanga Dharmarathna, RSP, USP, psc and Cdr Chameera Ranaweera, RSP, USP, psc and Student Officers from the 33rd JNSC namely LCdr(G) DLLD Liyanage, LCdr (CDO) DJKS Siriwardhane, LCdr(SBS) GA Gunathilake, Lt(LS) TSC Peiris, LCdr(ASW) NN Wickramasooriya, and LCdr(INF) KI Thennakoon.

Those who opportune to participate including Deputy Director Naval Training representing Naval Headquarters and Senior Officers from the Eastern Naval Command, praised the successful conduct of the event whilst it was a great educational experience for the officer under trainees and Chief Instructors at NMA.

Commandant Army School of Logistics Brigadier Manjula Premarathna, psc, lsc, Commandant Air Force Academy, China Bay Air Commodore Dammika Dias, WWV*, RSP*, USP, psc, qhi, and Student Officers of Sri Lanka Army School of Logistics and Junior Command and Staff College Sri Lanka Air Force Academy were also witnessed the event as external invitees.

The symposium aimed to discuss, deliberate and expand the horizons of the young officers in the Sri Lanka Navy. The event was webcasted through the Sri Lanka Navy internal website and YouTube.
