Commander Eastern Naval Area VISITS NMA

The Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva arrived on his first official visit to NMA after assuming the office of Commander Eastern Naval Area on 26 September 2023 to address the Directing Staff of Naval and Maritime Academy. Upon his arrival, he was received by the Commandant, Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage.

The Commander Eastern Naval Area focused attention on the values and responsibilities of an instructor at NMA in grooming OUTs. He shared some of his own experiences whilst serving at NMA in different capacities as a Divisional Officer, OIC of the Navigation School, OTO and finally as the DTC. He emphasized that the Navy has recognized the skills of the young Divisional Officers by selecting them to serve in the prestigious Naval and Maritime Academy and the Navy expects them to groom themselves profoundly and professionally as well as deliver to train young under trainees to become future leaders.
