INS Khanjar calls Port of Trincomalee

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Khanjar called Port of Trincomalee on a goodwill visit on 29th July 2023 and she was warmly welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions. Several coordinated activities were conducted by the ship’s crew and Naval & Maritime Academy staff to enhance the professional knowledge, physical well-being and mutual interaction between both navies.

Accordingly, 39 Officer Under Trainees (OUTs) belong to the 38th KDU and 64th Intake of Cadets and 09 Sailor Under Trainees (SUTs) of GR I qualifying course were given the opportunity to attend a lecture on weaponry and Surface to Surface Missiles (SSM) onboard the ship on 29th July 2023 in order to broaden  their knowledge on modern weaponry systems.

In line with the goodwill visit of the INS ship, a Yoga session was conducted on 30th July 2023 at the picturesque Ashroff Jetty for which sixteen (16) OUTs and four (04) SUTs of NMA were participated. This Yoga session promoted physical well-being and nurtured collaboration between the navies of both neighbouring nations.

The evening of 30th July 2023 was enlightened with a glamorous cultural show conducted by the cultural team of Sri Lanka Navy at Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium (AWKA) where, the cultural team showcased the traditional music and dances to entertain the ship’s crew of INS Khanjar.

All OUTs belong to the 38th KDU and 64th Intake of Cadets were privileged to participate in the ‘Passage Exercise (PASSEX)’onboard SLNS Sagara conducted between SLNS Sagara and INS Khanjar as the final activity of her goodwill visit to Sri Lanka where the OUTs were exposed to an international maritime exercise for the first time in their career.
