A group of 19 sailors were attached to the Information Technology School of the Naval and Maritime Academy on January 16, 2023 to follow the basic qualifying course of Information Technology branch. Â
After Successful completion of the 6 months course was marked on July 29, 2023. As a result, 17 sailors were joined the IT branch to strength the cadre. R/IT NS Bandara was selected as the best performer of the Phase III Information Technology 18th course and he was awarded with the Golden Mouse Award.  Â
By using the knowledge they acquired in the course, they created an automatic human replica that could identify the people who enter the main entrance of the IT school and make a verbal statement to welcome them and it was donated to the school. It was officially inaugurated by the Officer In Charge of the school, Lieutenant Commander(IT) WBC Rodrigo, and all the Instructors including the Chief Instructor of the school participated in this event. Â
