NMA Organises an inter squadron debate competition

The Inter Squadron Debate Competition Final organized by the Toastmasters club of Naval and Maritime Academy was held on 22nd  March 2023 at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium. Talents of the midshipmen of 36th  intake KDU and 64th intake were highlighted.

The Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The competition was witnessed by an audience comprised of Senior Officers, Officers, Officer Under Trainees, Senior and Junior Sailors from Naval and Maritime Academy.

Beauchamp Squadron became the Champions defeating the Bank Squadron at the final round of the debate. Midshipman KMNSM Bandara was adjudged the best speaker at the finals.

Addressing the audience, the Chief Guest Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage congratulated the winners and all the participants in the finals. He also highlighted the importance of improving the ability of public speaking and debating as the servicemen. Further he put forward some valuable points on “the technology and the man behind the weapon” which was the topic in the final debate. Debate was concluded with the awarding ceremony.
