GRADUATION CEREMONY OF 36TH JUNIOR NAVAL STAFF COURSE

The 36th Junior Naval Staff Course, which commenced on 11th  November 2024, successfully concluded with a grand Graduation Ceremony at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in NMA – Trincomalee, on 22nd March 2025. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral BAKSP Banagoda, RSP, USP, ndc, psc, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

A total of twenty (20) student officers successfully completed the course, including eighteen (18) officers from the Sri Lanka Navy, one officer from the Indian Navy, and one officer from the Sri Lanka Air Force. The Chief Guest, Vice Admiral BAKSP Banagoda, RSP, USP,ndc, psc congratulated the student officers on their achievements and highlighted the significance of continuous professional training in shaping successful naval careers. 

During the ceremony, the following student officers were recognized for their exceptional performances:

  • LCdr (G) E.L.C.A. Perera was awarded the trophies for First in Overall Order of Merit and Highest Aggregate in Academic Subjects.
  • LCdr (ASW) E.A.I.K. Priyadarshana was awarded the trophy for the Best Public Speaker.
  • LCdr (Marine) W.H.M. Karunarathna secured the trophy for Best Commandant’s Service Paper.
  • Cdr (IN) S. Sunil Joshi was awarded as the Best Non-SLN Student Officer.

Additionally, the event was attended by the President of the Sri Lanka Navy Sewa Wanitha Unit, Mrs. Anusha Banagoda, the Deputy Chief of Staff and the Commander of the Eastern Naval Area, the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet (FOCNF), representatives from Naval Headquarters (NHQ), a representative from the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy in China Bay, senior officers of the Eastern Naval Command, faculty members of the Naval and Maritime Academy, student officers, instructors, and Officer and Sailor Under Trainees.
