OPENING ADDRESS OF THE DIRECT ENTRY INTAKE 03/2024 OFFICER UNDER TRAINEES (OUTs)

The opening address for Direct Entry Intake 03/2024 was held at the Mini Auditorium of the Naval and Maritime Academy on 24 Feb 25 with the presence of Rear Admiral Rohan Joseph, the Commandant of the Naval and Maritime Academy, as the Chief Guest. Other participants included the Training Captain, the Acting Officer Training Officer, directing staff of the Officer Training Wing and the divisional team. This event marked the beginning of the Basic Naval Training, setting the stage for the participants’ naval careers upon completion of their professional training.

The Direct Entry Intake 03/2024 comprises sixteen (16) officers, including ten (10) from the Regular Naval Force and six (06) from the Volunteer Naval Force. The course aims to provide comprehensive academic training that covers both theoretical and practical aspects, helping to develop the qualities and capabilities which are necessary for these officers to evolve into competent and professional naval officers in the future.

During his address to the officers undergoing training (OUTs) at the opening ceremony, the Commandant emphasized the importance of acquiring knowledge to lead effectively and the importance of upholding values that define the Navy.
