Naval and Maritime Academy

CEREMONIALLY COMMENCED THE STCW BASIC SAFETY AND MARITIME ENGLISH SUPPORT LEVEL COURSE NO. 01 – 2025 (O) AND COURSE NO. 01 – 2025 (S) AT NMA

The Standards of Training, Certification & Watchkeeping (STCW) Basic Safety and Maritime English Support Level Course No. 01 – 2025(O) and Course No. 01 – 2025(S) commenced at the Merchant Marine Training School, Naval and Maritime Academy on 06 Jan 25. The two courses consist of eight (08) officers and thirty-two (32) sailors.

The course aims to equip participants with skills which are necessary to obtain the Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) from the Director General of Merchant Shipping. This initiative is pivotal for naval personnel, seeking second career opportunities after dedicated service in the Sri Lanka Navy.

The ceremony was graced by the Commandant, Naval and Maritime Academy, Commodore Rohan Joseph as the Chief Guest and officially inaugurated the courses.
