SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE STCW BASIC SAFETY AND MARITIME ENGLISH SUPPORT LEVEL COURSE NO. 08 – 2024 (S) AT NMA.

Certificate Awarding Ceremony of Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) Basic Safety and Maritime English Support Level Course No. 08-2024(S) was held at Mini Auditorium of the Naval and Maritime Academy on 19th December 2024. The ceremony was graced by the Commandant, Naval and Maritime Academy, Commodore Rohan Joseph as the Chief Guest.

The Course commenced on 18th November 2024 with the participation of 20 sailors. Further, all the course participants were awarded certificates for STCW Basic Safety modules on successfully completion of the STCW course.

This course aims to provide theoretical and practical knowledge and the training which required to obtain the Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) from the Merchant Shipping Secretariat. The course enhances the competencies of the participants to carry out duties onboard Merchant Ships professionally. The course is conducted under the directives of the Merchant Shipping Secretariat and the STCW Convention and the course steers the future aspirations of naval personnel who wish to retire from the Sri Lanka Navy in the future.
