In an enriching display of inter-service collaboration, the Naval & Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee, proudly hosted a delegation from the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy, China Bay. Led by Group Captain RND Senadheera, Commanding Officer of the Ground Training Wing, the visiting team comprised four officers, 59 cadets, and other-rank instructors. Representing the Commandant of NMA, the Officer Training Officer warmly welcomed the delegation, setting the stage for a day of insightful exchanges and hands-on experiences. The visit commenced with an informative presentation on the Naval & Maritime Academy’s history, training structure and achievements, followed by an engaging documentary video that provided an in-depth look at the NMA.
The Air Force Cadets then had the unique opportunity to visit SLNS Parakramabahu and two Fast Attack Crafts, gaining a first-hand perspective on naval capabilities and maritime defence. Adding to the experience, the delegation embarked on a picturesque cruise around Trincomalee Harbour, where they observed naval operations in Sri Lanka’s most strategic maritime location. Â
The visit concluded with an inspiring stop at the Naval Museum, where Air Force cadets engaged with NMA cadets from the 67th Intake, exchanging stories, insights, and camaraderie. A commemorative exchange of mementos marked the end of this memorable visit, symbolizing the mutual respect and unity between the two prestigious institutions. This collaborative engagement reflects a shared dedication to training excellence and service to the nation, as the both academies work to develop future military leaders.
