FORGING FUTURE LEADERS: THE YOUNG OFFICER COURSE’S IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE AT THE NAVAL AND MARITIME ACADEMY

On 15th October 2024, the prestigious Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) welcomed the 34th Young Officer Course from the Sri Lanka Army, Armoured Corps Training Centre. The visit provided a unique opportunity for the group, which consisted of eight student officers, four instructors, and the Commandant of the Armoured Corps Training Centre. The visit began with a documentary video and presentation about the NMA, followed by an informative tour of the NMA schools and the Naval Museum.

A significant highlight was the acceptance of a memento at the Mini Auditorium, symbolizing the gratitude and respect shared between the two institutions. The visitors explored various sections of the NMA, focusing particularly on the Engineering School, Communication School, and Navigation School. They were notably impressed by the Engineering School Model Room, the Fast Attack Craft (FAC) simulator, and the Ship Handling Simulator at the Navigation School.

The day concluded with an enriching visit to the Naval Museum, followed by a refreshing break. The visit to the Naval Museum not only covered the rich history of the NMA but also provided valuable insights, leaving the participants excited and well-informed. The experience showcased the enduring cooperation and knowledge exchange between the Sri Lanka Army and the Naval and Maritime Academy
