ENGLISH DEBATE “DAMER OF BLUES 2024”

The language school of NMA organized a debate titled “Damer of  Blues” for the Cadet Officers of the 65th and 66th intakes of  NMA at the Admiral Wasantha  Karannagoda Auditorium on Thursday, 12th September 2024. Commodore Rohan Joseph, the Commadant of the Naval and Maritime Academy graced the event as the Chief Guest.

The focused groups of Cadet 65th and 66th intakes participated in the debate and battled on “should every citizen be mandated to undergo military training.” The debate sparked intense discussion as participants clashed over key issues, showcasing both passion and expertise with compelling arguements from both sides. The participants tackled the topic using authentic information and examples bringing fresh perspectives and in – depth analysis to the debate stage. As tension rose, the debaters skillfully defended their position, making it a memorable conflict. The debate led the audience to ponder on different perspectives.The Chief Guest extended his congratulations to the participants for reaching this initial effort with a word of continuation. The Commandant addressed the gathering and pointed out the importance of English so the OUTs and SUTs could enhance the horizon of their knowledge.

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Training Captain, along with the directing staff, academic personnel, student officers, instructors, and officer and sailor under trainees.
