NAVAL AND MARITIME ACADEMY CELEBRATED HER 57TH ANNIVERSARY

The prime training establishment of the Sri Lanka Navy, Naval and Maritime Academy celebrated its 57th anniversary on a high note on 15th July 2024.

In concurrent with the anniversary celebration, sports events and religious observances were conducted under the able guidance of the Commandant NMA Commodore Rohan Joseph, with the participation of the faculty members and the crew of NMA. Accordingly, a friendly Volleyball tournament was played on 6th July 2024. Further, given embedding meritorious blessings upon the NMA crew, a Bodhi Pooja event at Tissa temple, a mass at Chatholic church, and prayers at the Hindu kovil and the mosque were also held in the presence of respective devotees of the crew and the civil staff.

In addition to these activities, Revatha Children’s Home was cleaned and offered them with delicious meal and a Sharmadana campaign was carried out at Kantale hermitage. Moreover, pregnant mothers were treated with lunch as meritorious deeds followed by the anniversary celebrations.

The inspection of the divisions organized in paralleled to the anniversary, was inspected by the Commandant Naval & Maritime Academy on 15th  July 2024. The anniversary celebration marked its closure with the special lunch provided for all the crew and the civil staff of NMA, traditionally called ‘ Barakana’ on the same day.
