The Naval & Maritime Academy (NMA) in Trincomalee proudly announces the commencement of the NBCD (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical, and Damage Control) and Firefighting Course 01/2024. This specialized training program, designed for EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) qualified officers and sailors, commenced on 27th May 2024 at the NBCD School at the Naval & Maritime Academy. The course will run until 10th June 2024, with participation of 2 officers and 15 sailors. The primary objective is to provide comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge in NBCD and firefighting to EOD-qualified personnel, enhancing their ability to effectively manage and respond to these critical incidents.
Participants will engage in advanced training sessions that cover a wide range of topics, including firefighting techniques, damage control, and NBCD defence. They will learn to combat various types of fires using different firefighting equipment and strategies, essential damage control methods to mitigate structural damage on naval vessels, and the handling of nuclear, biological, and chemical threats with a focus on both preventive measures and responsive actions to safeguard personnel and equipment. This rigorous curriculum is designed to ensure that all participants develop the expertise needed to handle NBCD scenarios and firefighting emergencies efficiently.
