The opening address of the Basic Orientation Course (BOC) 01/2024 was held at the Mini Auditorium of the Naval and Maritime Academy. Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Training Captain, the Executive Officer, the Acting Officer Training Officer and the divisional team participated in this event. This was a significant event as it marked the commencement of their Basic Naval Training which embarks them on the passage of the naval career on completion of their professional training.
The Basic Orientation Course 01/2024 consists of 01 Medical Officer from 33rd Intake KDU, 02 Medical Officers from 34th Intake KDU, 01 Dental Officer and 02 Medical Lady Officer Under Trainees (OUTs) from University Grant Commission Entry.
The course is designed for 13 weeks. The course aims to provide comprehensive academic training. The curriculum encompasses both theoretical and practical aspects, fostering the development of qualities and capabilities necessary for the OUTs to evolve into competent and professional naval officers in the future.
Addressing the OUTs at the opening ceremony, the Commandant emphasised the importance of acquiring essential knowledge to lead men and make sound decisions while upholding decorum, discipline, integrity, honour, and punctuality. Further, he congratulated them and inspired them by leaving an indelible mark in their minds. This event was a pivotal moment in the journey of these OUTs as they embarked on their path to becoming proficient naval officers.
