OPENING ADDRESSES OF THE 36TH & 37TH  (TECHNICAL) AND 38TH & 39TH (NON-TECHNICAL)  INTAKE KDU OFFICER UNDER TRAINEES (OUTs)

The opening addresses of the 36th & 37th (Technical) and 38th & 39th (Non-Technical)  Intake KDU Officer Under Trainees (OUTs) were held at the Mini Auditorium of the Naval and Maritime Academy on 05th January 2024. The Commandant, Naval and Maritime Academy, Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage, RWP, RSP, USP, ndc, psc graced the occasion as the chief guest while the Training Captain, the Commanding Officer, the Officer Training Officer and the divisional team also participated in this event.  This was a significant event, as it marked the commencement of their military training.

The final phase of military training for 41 OUTs will be conducted in two courses, encompassing the 36th & 37th Intakes and the 38th & 39th Intakes. The 36th and 37th Intake KDU course is included 25 OUTs specializing in Architecture, Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, and Information Technology. Further, the 38th and 39th Intake KDU course is comprised of 16 OUTs focusing on Executive, Logistics, Legal, Infantry, Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, and Information Technology disciplines.

These courses, designed for 28 and 52 weeks, respectively, aim to provide comprehensive academic and advanced maritime training. The curriculum encompasses both theoretical and practical aspects, fostering the development of qualities and capabilities necessary for the OUTs to evolve into competent and professional naval officers in the future.

Addressing the OUTs at the opening ceremony, the Commandant emphasized the importance of acquiring essential knowledge to lead men and make sound decisions while upholding decorum, discipline, integrity, honour, and punctuality. He congratulated them and inspired them with words of wisdom and guidance in his opening address, leaving an indelible mark in their minds. This event was a pivotal moment in the journey of these OUTs as they embarked on their path to becoming proficient naval officers.
