65th Intake Officer Cadets Host Coffee Morning

On Sunday, 17th September 2023, the 65th intake Officer Cadets of Naval & Maritime Academy organized the ‘Coffee Morning’ as their first official event in the Academy. The event, graced by Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage, the Commandant of Naval & Maritime Academy, was a testament to the rich cultural heritage and strong bonds that define the Academy.

In keeping with Sri Lankan traditions, the Commandant unfurled the coconut flower laid on the Prosperity Table and this symbolic gesture marked the commencement of the event, a gathering that held great significance for both the Officer Cadets and the Directing Staff of the academy.

The Officer Cadets of the 65th intake embarked on their journey at the Naval & Maritime Academy on 28th June 2023. The Coffee Morning served as an invaluable opportunity for these young Cadets to interact with the Faculty members of the NMA. It was a momentous occasion for them to learn from the experiences of senior officers, gain knowledge on various aspects, be exposed to naval customs and etiquettes and identify the mentors and leaders within the Academy.

This event showcased the commitment of the NMA to foster a strong sense of community and mutual respect among its members. The presence of Commodore B Liyanagamage, a distinguished officer and leader, as the Chief Guest added a special touch to the gathering. His words of wisdom and encouragement undoubtedly left a lasting impression on the Officer Cadets. Inter personnel relationship connections and interactions play a pivotal role in personal and professional development, and this provided another platform for the exchange of ideas, experiences, and aspirations. It is through such interaction that the bonds of unity within the Academy are strengthened, ensuring a bright and promising future for the 65th  intake Officer Cadets as they continue with their training and education.
