Stepping into another phase, the Officer Training Wing of Naval and Maritime Academy commenced four new courses for Officer Under Trainees (OUT) and Student Officer Under Trainees (SOUT) on 04th July 2023. Inaugural of 25th Sub Lieutenant Technical course (Executive), Basic Orientation Course (Medical Officers) 01/2023, Direct Entry (VNF) Batch 01/2022 and 65th Cadet Entry Intake was held at Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium. The Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy, Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The 25th Sub Lieutenant Technical Course comprised with 25 student officers of Executive branch. Basic Orientation Course (Medical Officers) 01/2023 comprised with 07 OUTs (including 03 Lady Officers). Direct Entry (VNF) Batch 01/2022 comprised with 29 Direct Entry Officers (including 15 Lady Officers) and 65th Cadet entry Intake comprised with 35 Officer Under Trainees. The Courses was designed to impart knowledge on theoretical and practical aspect while improving qualities and capabilities.
Addressing the SOUTs and OUTs, the Chief Guest highlighted that Officer training always aim to develop leadership and officer-like qualities, a high sense of duty, honour, develop high standards of physical fitness and endurance, foster the spirit of comradeship, goodwill and promote understanding, developing character and self-confidence. He further recommenced to be greedy to acquire essential knowledge and prove yourself to become competent future leaders with great capability and vision.
