Training command men’s and women’s handball teams crowned inter command handball champions 2023

Men’s and women’s handball teams of Naval and Maritime Academy which comprised of Training Command became the champions of Inter Command Handball Tournament -2023 which was held at SLNS Pandukabaya from 18th to 21st May. After four days of tussle, the Training Command won men’s and women’s Inter Command Handball Champions 2023. The unbeaten Training Command men’s and women’s teams were able to maintain their standard by showing their solid defense and attacking skills for the opponents throughout the tournament.

In the finals Training Command women’s team beat Northern Naval Command by scoring goals 15-09 and the men’s team beat Western Naval Command after having a tough match during the extra time by scoring goals 44-43. The coordination of the players, execution of game plans, and fitness level made the Training Command unbeatable champions during the Inter Command Handball Tournament 2023.

Training Command women’s team captain WLCOM GPHL Gamage was awarded with the best player award, W/LS LAL Herath and AB (PTI) SMSP Samaraweera were awarded with the best attacker and best goalkeeper awards respectively. For the men’s LPTI KA Kumara was bestowed with the best player award during the Inter Command Handball Tournament 2023. Commander North Central Naval Area Rear Admiral NMJD Nissanka graced the finals and prize awarding ceremony as the Chief Guest.
