New Year Spirits & Traditional Tea Table Herald First Working Day

The customary Sinhala and Tamil New Year tea table and cordial get-together at the Naval and Maritime  Academy  (NMA)  got  underway  on  14 Apr 23  with  Commodore  B  Liyanagamage Commandant NMA, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest.

On arrival at the venue, the Commandant was welcomed by Captain, WNSB Dharmarathne the Deputy Training Captain and officers including the Directing Staff at NMA

The inauguration of the day’s symbolic New Year treat, colored with many varieties of traditional sweetmeats and milk rice took place after the Commandant set light to the traditional oil lamp, together with Directing Staff.

During refreshments the Commandant moved about freely and spoke to a cross section of the gathering and shared a couple of views with them on general matters.

A group of officers, Senior Sailors and Junior Sailors were also present on this occasion.
