The Electrically Powered Engine simulator was established at Engineering School, Naval & Maritime Academy, Trincomalee was commissioned and declared open by Rear Admiral KWARI Ranasinghe USP, psc, the Director General Engineering with the presence of Rear Admiral TWW Leelarathne, USP, psc, the Director General Electrical & Electronic Engineering Sri Lanka Navy at the invitation of Commodore KDDC Fernando, RSP, USP, rcds, the Commandant Naval & Maritime Academy on 16th December 2022.
Engine simulator is a long term awaited requirement to expose trainees to the actual environment and situation handling in an onboard engine room. This Electrically Powered Engine simulator was established to cater the requirement of enhancing competence of Marine Engineers, Engine Room artificers and Engineering Mates by simulating real time emergency situations frequently confronted while working with marine engines onboard SLN.
The cut model of Chinese L 180 has been introduced with realistic general arrangements and system components and as a collective and an enormous effort of well-competent technical staff of both the Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering Schools of Naval & Maritime Academy, under the direct supervision of the Officer In Charge Engineering School, Naval & Maritime Academy. This is the first Engine simulator established in a training institute in Sri Lanka Navy which creates a milestone in Naval & Maritime Academy history.
