About us

Hydrographic Survey School (HSS) initially established at SLNS Thakshila on 2014 with the intention of imparting theoretical knowledge and practical training on Hydrographic aspects for Naval personnel to achieve professionalism required to perform survey duties in the most efficient and effective manner leading to organizational excellence of the Sri Lanka Navy Hydrographic Service.

HSS shifted to Naval & Maritime Academy on 15th May 2019 on its 5th anniversary presently HSS is comprising with Chart room and a class room which can accommodate 15 No’s of under trainees.

Policy

To impart sufficient theoretical knowledge and practical training on Hydrographic survey to qualify Officers and Sailors to perform their specialized duties in the most effective and efficient manner, leading to excellence of the Sri Lanka Navy Hydrographic Service.

  • The SR-II course aims to train SR sailors who have completed SR-III to Sri Lanka NavyHydrographic branch considering following reasons.
  • Carryout assigned survey duties more professionally.
  • Be in partwith the knowledge of sailors with other Navies in the region.
  • Identify potential sailorswith professional knowledgeto undergo local&foreign training in future.
