THE MERCHANT MARINE TRAINING SCHOOL OF NMA HAS CEREMONIALLY COMMENCED THE STCW BASIC SAFETY AND MARITIME ENGLISH SUPPORT LEVEL COURSE NO. 02/2026 (O) AND 05/2026 (S)


The Opening Ceremony of the Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) Basic Safety and Maritime English Support Level Course No. 02/2026 (O) and course No.05/2026 (S) was held at the Merchant Marine Training School of the Naval & Maritime Academy (NMA) on 13th July 2026.

The course consists of ten (10) officers, including one Flag rank Officer, twenty-nine (29) senior sailors and one (01) junior sailor. The primary objective of this course is to provide naval personnel with the comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to obtain the Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) issued by the Merchant Shipping Secretariat. This programme makes a significant contribution to enhance the post-retirement career prospects of Sri Lanka Navy personnel by equipping them with the qualifications necessary to pursue employment opportunities in the merchant maritime sector.

Further, the Official Inauguration Ceremony was graced by Commander (N) Roshan Kumara the Officer in charge of Merchant Marine Training School (MMTS).

අඛණ්ඩ මුදහැරීමේ සහතිකපත් පාඨමාලා අංක 02/2026 (O) සහ 05/2026 (S) පාඨමාලාවන්ගේ සමාරම්භක උත්සවය 2026 ජුලි මස 13 වන දින නාවික හා සාගරික විද්‍යාපීඨයේ වෙළඳ නාවික පුහුණු පාසලේදී පැවැත්විණි.

පාඨමාලාව සඳහා ධජ නිලධාරියකු ඇතුළු නිලධාරීන් දහ දෙනෙකු (10) හා ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නාවිකයින් විසි නවදෙනෙකු (29) සහ එක් කණිෂ්ඨ නාවිකයෙකුගෙන් (01) සමන්විත වේ. මෙම පාඨමාලාවේ මුලික අරමුණ වනුයේ සහභාගී වන නාවික පුද්ගලයින් හට වෙළද නාවික ලේකම් කාර්යාලය මඟින් ප්‍රධානය කරනු ලබන අඛණ්ඩ මුදාහැරිමේ සහතිය (CDC) ලබා ගැනීමට අවශ්‍ය සම්පූර්ණ න්‍යායික හා ප්‍රායෝගික දැනුම ලබා දීමයි. ශ්‍රී ලංකා නාවික හමුදාවෙන් විශ්‍රාම ගැනීමෙන් පසු වෘත්තීය අවස්ථාවන් වෙත යොමු වන නාවික පුද්ගලයින් හට පිටුවහලක් වීම සඳහා මෙම වැඩසටහන මහඟු දායකත්වයක් ලබා දෙයි.

තවද, පාඨමාලාවේ නිල සමාරම්භක උත්සවයට නාවික හා සාගරික විද්‍යාපීඨයේ වෙළඳ නාවික පුහුණු පාසලේ අණභාර නිලධාරි කොමාණ්ඩර් (මාලිමා) රොෂාන් කුමාර නිලධාරි සහභාගි වූහ.

கடற்படை மற்றும் கடல்சார் கல்வியகத்தின் வணிகக் கடற்படை பயிற்சி பள்ளியினால் நடத்தப்படும் தொடர்ச்சியான பணிவிடுவிப்பு சான்றிதழ் (CDC) பயிற்சி நெறிகள் இல. 02/2026 (O) மற்றும் 05/2026 (S) ஆகியவற்றின் தொடக்க விழா 2026 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜூலை மாதம் 13 ஆம் திகதி வணிகக் கடற்படை பயிற்சி பள்ளியில் வெற்றிகரமாக நடைபெற்றது.

இப்பயிற்சி நெறியில் ஒரு கொடியதிகாரி உட்பட பத்து (10) அதிகாரிகள், இருபத்தொன்பது (29) மூத்த மாலுமிகள் மற்றும் ஒரு (01) இளைய மாலுமி பங்கேற்கின்றனர். இப்பயிற்சி நெறியின் பிரதான நோக்கம், பங்கேற்கும் கடற்படை பணியாளர்களுக்கு வணிகக் கப்பல் செயலகத்தினால் வழங்கப்படும் தொடர்ச்சியான பணிவிடுவிப்பு சான்றிதழை (Continuous Discharge Certificate – CDC) பெறுவதற்குத் தேவையான முழுமையான கோட்பாடு மற்றும் நடைமுறை அறிவை வழங்குவதாகும். மேலும், இலங்கை கடற்படையிலிருந்து ஓய்வு பெற்ற பின் வணிகக் கடல்சார் துறையில் தொழில் வாய்ப்புகளை நாடும் கடற்படை பணியாளர்களுக்கு இந்நிகழ்ச்சி சிறந்த ஆதரவாகவும் முக்கிய பங்களிப்பாகவும் அமைகிறது.

மேலும், இப்பாடநெறியின் உத்தியோகபூர்வ தொடக்க விழாவில் கடற்படை மற்றும் கடல்சார் அறிவியல் அகாடமியின் வணிகக் கடற்படை பயிற்சி பள்ளியின் பொறுப்பதிகாரி, கமாண்டர் (நெவிகேஷன்) ரோஷான் குமார அவர்கள் கலந்துகொண்டார்.
