SUCCESSFUL CULMINATION OF THE ADVANCED NBCD OFFICER COURSE 01/2026

The NBCD School of the Naval & Maritime Academy (NMA) successfully concluded the Advanced NBCD Officer Course 01/2026 on 24th Mar 26. This intensive programme, which commenced on 05th Jan 26, was designed to significantly enhance the operational readiness and professional competence of Sri Lanka Navy officers.

Fourteen (14) officers from various branches of the SLN successfully graduated from the course. Throughout the eleven (11) week duration, the curriculum provided participants with extensive knowledge in specialized fields, including firefighting, damage control and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) defense. A highlight of the training was the integration of high-fidelity simulations and hands-on drills at the Fire Pit and the Dockyard Fire Service.

The primary goal was to equip these officers with the theoretical depth and practical confidence required to lead effectively aboard ships. Notably, LT(E) ND Withanachchi distinguished himself by securing first place in the overall order of merit with an impressive 93.2% average. This initiative reflects the NMA’s proactive commitment to fostering expertise, ensuring the SLN remains prepared to navigate maritime challenges with safety and professional efficiency.
