CEREMONIALLY COMMENCED THE RP II QUALIFYING COURSE 04/2025 AT NMA


A group of Twenty Seven (27) Radar Plotter (RP) sailors joined the Navigation School of the Naval Maritime Academy on 25th August 2025 to commence the RP II Qualifying Course 04/2025, which will Schedule for a duration of seventeen (17) weeks.

The primary objective of the RP II Qualifying Course is to impart professional knowledge to Radar Plotter sailors, enabling them to perform their duties ewectivey as Radar Operators, Navigator’s Yeomen, Tactical Communicators, and Plotters onboard ships and in operations rooms. The course also covers the handling, upkeep, and maintenance of navigation publications and equipment.

The Officer-in-Charge of the Navigation School, Commander (ND) HMWM Thilakarathna, addressed the trainees during the Opening Ceremony and highlighted the significance of the course in preparing them to discharge their duties as professional Navigator’s Yeomen and as Radar Plotters. The Chief Instructor, instructors, and the divisional team nere also participated for the event.
