MAGNETIC COMPASS SWINGING SIMULATOR LAUNCHED AT THE NAVIGATION SCHOOL

 

In another initiative aimed at enhancing professional training at NMA, a Magnetic Compass Swinging Simulator (MCSS) was launched on 01st July 2025 at the Navigation School.

The MCSS was launched by Rear Admiral Rohan Joseph, the Commandant Naval & Maritime Academy, in the presence of the Training Captain, faculty members, and the MCSS project team led by Lieutenant Commander (L) SARK Jayathilaka.

The MCSS was designed and developed by the Innovative and New Ideas Cell (INIC) of the NMA under the guidance of Lieutenant Commander (L) SARK Jayathilaka. This simulator is considered an important addition towards enhancing professional training of OUTs and Executive Branch officers serving onboard the SLN fleet.

The MCSS is expected to assist the OUTs to better comprehend the theoretical and practical aspects related to magnetic compass swinging.
