NAVAL AND MARITIME ACADEMY HOSTS CHESS WORKSHOP FOR OFFICER UNDER TRAINEES

On March 8th 2025, a chess workshop was organized by the Physical Training School at the Naval and Maritime Academy Officer Under Trainees, under the directives of the Commandant, Rear Admiral R Joseph. The event, held under the patronage of the Navy Chess pool experts, aimed to promote mental agility and strategic thinking.

Trainees were guided by members of the Navy Chess pool through chess fundamentals, advanced strategies, and live gameplay analysis, which helped them improve decision-making and problem-solving skills. The trainees eagerly participated in friendly matches, showcasing their enthusiasm.

The success of the workshop has sparked plans to make chess a regular part of training, recognizing its value in sharpening strategic minds for naval operations. With continued support from leadership and expert facilitators, NMA remains committed to the development of well-rounded future naval officers.
