The Naval & Maritime Academy, Trincomalee successfully concluded its Advanced NBCD Officer Course on 31st August 2024. This intensive programme which commenced on 1st July 2024 was designed to enhance the skills and readiness of naval officers in critical areas such as Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Defense (NBCD) including firefighting and damage control. The completion of the course marks a significant milestone in the continuous professional development of naval personnel by ensuring that they are equipped to handle the complex challenges of modern maritime operations.
Having conducted by the instructors of the NBCD School, the course provided a comprehensive blend of theoretical instruction and practical training. Over the two months period, participants engaged in a series of rigorous exercises that tested their ability to respond to emergencies at sea, manage damage control operations and implement NBCD and CBRN protocols effectively. These hands-on sessions were crucial in reinforcing the officers’ ability to perform under pressure by ensuring that they are prepared to safeguard their vessels and crew in the event of a crisis.
