ABOUT US

IT School was established at Naval & Maritime Academy on 2000. Since then the Information Technology School has been rendering an indomitable service to Sri Lanka Navy in keeping with the policy of qualifying both officers and sailors to achieve the theoretical knowledge and the practical training on software and hardware in computer science at various levels to perform their specified duties in an effective and efficient environment.

The physical resources of the IT School is comprised of three fully equipped computer labs with internet facility which can accommodate thirty personnel each at a time and one mini lab with 10 no of computers to improve the IT related skills and competency of both the officer and the sailor under trainees of Sri Lanka Navy.

    OUR POLICY

To qualify both officers and sailors to achieve theoretical knowledge and practical training on software and hardware in computer science at various levels to perform their specified duties in the most effective and efficient manner.

  • To acquire the leadership/administrative standards required of a Petty Officer in the IT Branch of Sri Lanka Navy.
  • To understand the IT equipment and system in use in Sri Lanka Navy. and gain professional knowledge in their maintenance/and repair.
  • To be confident to impart knowledge, guide and train junior sailors in the performance of their technical duties.
  • To be eligible to be promoted to the rate of Petty Officer (IT)

  • This course is designed to impart broad knowledge on Information Technology IT Class 1 sailors who has not passed the Leading ‘Q’ IT exam.

  • This syllabus is designed to impact fair knowledge on Information Technology to IT branch class II sailors and enabling them to possess better knowledge to work in the field.

  • The general aim of this course is to expose the non IT branch officers and sailors to a theoretical and practical knowledge about some advanced features of IT and acquaint them with necessary IT skills.
