The Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy, Rear Admiral R Joseph graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\">The course commenced on 16<\/span><sup style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\">th&nbsp;<\/sup><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\">January 2024 with 26 Student Officer Under Trainees (SOUTs). All 26 SOUTs successfully completed the course and obtained their certificates. During the 52 weeks SOUTs were exposed to absorb and weigh the theoretical aspects through practical training from different schools at NMA. In addition, some modules were conducted by visiting lecturers, and other naval establishments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\">The certificates were awarded by the Chief Guest to all SOUTs to mark the successful completion of the course. Lieutenant DMCJ Jayasekara was able to secure the prize for the \u2018Best Public Speaker\u2019 while Lieutenant PRNI Pattivila secured the prize for the \u2018Best Essay\u2019 and the Trophy of \u2018First in Order of Merit\u2019. Meanwhile, the award for the \u2018Highest Aggregate in Overall Subjects\u2019 of the 25<\/span><sup style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\">th<\/sup><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\">&nbsp; Sub Lieutenant Technical Course &#8211; Executive was awarded to Lieutenant YS Thomas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\">Addressing the august gathering, the Commandant congratulated to the SOUTs for achieving their career milestone and urged the young officers to continue with the learning process and perform well in future
